Des Requins et des Hommes (DRDH) is an international NGO based in Brest, France, dedicated to the conservation of shark, skates and rays (the elasmobranch).
DRDH approach is based on transdisciplinarity: biologists, economists, sociologists… are working as a coherent team to gain a better understanding of the various interactions sharks and fishermen can have, with the overarching aim of improving management measures protecting those vulnerable species that are acceptable for coastal communities.
Our collaboration is mainly focused on the use of serious games to foster discussions among stakeholders about fisheries management. Des Requins et des Hommes has a large experience of these games, implemented in a low-tech but extremely effective fashion.
A first poster has been presented at the 2016 IIFET conference: Improving Fishermen Knowledge through Collaborative Actions: examples in South America and Western Africa
